Station Extensions

Early in February 2007 the work begun to make way for station extensions, starting with the leveling of the site and the holes dug out for the footings of the extension to be built alongside the current station.

With the site leveled and holes dug it was Tru Steels turn to do their magic, and in almost a day the shell of the extended shed was erected.....

Next step was to cut holes into the shell to make way for roller doors, then pour the concrete floor, once that was done the roller doors were installed......

With the extension now being up to lock up stage it was time to get an electrician in to move some wires so we could cut a hole into the side wall of the existing station to allow access in the future from a change room into the current engine bays......

Time now to add some light to the extensions by installing some windows.

The walls take up their positions within the extension.

A sliding door is added to provide access from what will be the new meeting room into what will be an outdoor entertainment area, BBQ etc....

Now that the walls are in, quotes were sought and a plasterer was found to hang and stop the plasterboard walls and ceiling.

Along comes the cabinet maker, a local business to make up and install the cupboards for meeting room, kitchen and offices.

The painter has splashed a bit of paint around the place to make it look all fresh and our turnout hooks were installed.
