Major Projects

Tyabb fire brigade has formed a major projects committee in order to take on the task of fundraising
for major projects that Tyabb hope to accomplish in the near future, the committee itself comprises of
a few members of the brigade as well as many auxiliary members who are always happy to lend their
support to the brigade when needed, these auxiliary members being mostly the wives and partners of
current members.
Tyabb CFA has identified a number of goals to be achieved over the next few years.
Explained below are some of these goals and achievements Tyabb CFA are hoping to accomplish with the help of the support of the community.
Extension To Fire Station.
At an estimated $50,000.00 the extension to fire station project is one of the biggest projects Tyabb plans to undertake, with a building committee elected from and by the brigade to take on the tasks of coming up with ideas and plans on how to tackle the project, also getting the approval of the relevant authorities such as the council and CFA region headquarters themselves, then relying on the major projects committee to come up with fundraising ideas to fund the project.
Replacement Of Tanker 2
This project at an estimated cost of $70,000.00 would have to be the most expensive one Tyabb plans to take, with CFA policy being one that says brigade owned vehicles are to have a life span of only ten years, this means Tyabb's second tanker is due for replacement, some of the funding for this project will come from the sale of the current tanker.
Purchase of 4 more Portable Radios
Tyabb are also planning on purchasing 4 new portable radios for the communications department, as communication on the fireground is vital, we can never have too many radios. These portable radios however are not cheap at a cost of $3,000.00 each.
Purchase of Breathing Apparatus
At the moment Tanker two has a locker made to accommodate 2 breathing apparatus sets, but it has never been filled, Breathing apparatus sets are a vital piece of equipment in the health and safety of firefighters, allowing the firefighters to enter irrespiritable environments to better extinguish fires and rescue casualties.

Current station allows us to store the two tankers, and have limited capacity in our fast outgrowing meeting/training room
The planned extension which is well under way will allow us to accommodate more members for Training and meeting nights.
