Tyabb started off with a trailer for a fire appliance in the early days with it's first vehicle being a brigade purchased Ford Blitz long wheel based 4X4.
The blitz was in service from 21/01/1957 - 23/06/1965.
Unfortunately we had trouble locating pictures of these appliances....but will keep trying.
Tyabb's first truck supplied by the CFA was an old Austin which originally came with no heat shielding. The Austin was in service from June 1965 until June 1987.
Brigade purchased a Dodge in 1969 to become Tanker 2 alongside the Austin.
As the Dodge got older it was replaced with a Ford F350.
Then in 1987 the CFA replaced the Austin with an Isuzu 2 wheel drive 2000 litre diesel-pump tanker.
Brigade purchased an Isuzu truck and a CFA tray to put on it, to form the new Tanker 2, in replacement of the F350, complete with shiny bull bar.
In August 2006 the Isuzu 2.2D was replaced with a bigger version being the 3.4D. A 4 wheel drive with extra water carrying capacity of 3000 litres.
Alas the 3.4D did not stay at Tyabb for long as CFA replaced it in December 2006 for a 3.4C the "C" meaning crew cab, where crews travel inside the cab and no longer on the back of the trucks in what was called the ROPS (Roll Over Protection System).
Equipped with roll down fire shields inside the cab and a full spray system around the top of the appliance for protection in a burn over situation this vehicle is a step into the right direction for firefighters safety on the fireground.
